It is an excellent tool that allows me to design all aspects of a MySQL DB's.
That of course I could also do with the free MySQL GUI-tools or phpMyAdmin.
The real values of Navicat are:
- editing of tables in an Excel type fashion
- import/export from/to many function
- migration of DB's from one server to another
Problems solved ?
We had several large Excel sheets which we wanted to transfer to a web-based database information system.
Designing the DB was easy - and the front-end we build with PHPmagic.
But we needed to get all the data into the DB and clean it.
Also needed a tool for the DBA's to do things you cannot do thru the web-interface.
Documentation ?
I don't really need any - its is all so intuitive

1) Problem solved: The main problem Navicat is solving for me is creating the queries
in a fast.
The query builder helps tremendously with that - and I haven’t seen any other
tool that helps me create my queries for MySql.

i. PROBLEM SOLVED
We needed to easily administer and update tables with CSV files on a mysql database hosted on a remote machine. This needed to be achieved on a regular basis, by users uncomfortable with the command line. We tried most other mysql GUIs on OS X but found them too unstable or limited in features.
The database is critical for reporting needs and day to day problem solving. However, it was developed in a “quick and dirty” way (outside on the company IS&T process) and so we were free to choose how we deployed and administered it.
ii. PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY
The clear and powerful GUI was leagues ahead of other solutions. Of particular importance to this choosing this solution was the strong CSV upload and export tools. It also proved really useful to be able to store queries and share them between users. The query builder was a big plus too.

Stability, ease of use, common interface
We’re really happy with Navicat and only wish that we’d chosen the product sooner.

I got navicat, because I was
building a database to manage wide range of data
for the earthquake research project SAFOD.
I had about 10 different excel spreadsheets that
I was tracking various bits of data, which was
confusing enough, but I need to get the information
out to more people. So I decided to convert to
MySQL database, and Navicat really helped easily
get my excel data into mysql, and Navicat makes
it easy to maintain using a GUI, rather than the
line commands, or tedium of phpMyAdmin for multiple
edits.
I am sure Navicat will have more to offer, as
my database matures. I can't comment on the documentation,
because I've been able to figure out the few things
I need to do just from the menus and icons on
screen.

Navicat is fabulous, fast, easy
to use. It makes working with databases fun.
It's much better than TOAD. "I would like to suggest
Navicat to consider adding a more complete "Help"
information. Include tips and tricks within the
application, like (e.g.) CuteFTP does. I know
it has been extended to PostgreSQL. It would be
nice to see it extended to other databases, e.g.,
Pervasive/Btrieve, MS Access, DB2, dBASE and Filemaker.
My favourite features of Navicat are Backup, import/export,
basic database functionality, including browsing
tables, connections management, toolbar, subdivision
of functions, user management, queries, performance.
I'd like to see being able to search backwards
in the text of query results. Haven't used Scheduling
or Stored Procedures yet.
The Manual is okay. Support materials could do
with deeper detail, especially since Navicat is
limited in the number of databases it supports.
Perhaps there might be some way of integrating
Navicat support and help with information about
MySQL and PostgreSQL?

are partial very big (more than 50 Million records).
With my favourite tool Navicat
I create the queries fast and effective and with
nightly schedules I get the query results on early
morning.

ticket, because some of my schedules doesn't
work. But your support worked quick and professional
and now everything is alright.

We need to be able to offer every access to MySQL
database for Mac as well as PC users. Navicat
is the only program I have seen that works this
well on the Mac.
Able to export and import easily. Very easy to
use. Lightening fast. Scheduling, back-ups, Queries
are all very easy to use. This does a lot more
than what I expected.
Didn't really need the documentation. Navicat
was so well designed and user-friendly that I
just started using it.

Navicat is approaching the functionality
of MS Enterprise Manager.
Using Navicat, it is essentially
a breeze to manage MySQL. In fact, recently we
upgraded our server software to 10.3.3 -- this
upgrade also upgraded MySQL to the latest version.
In the process, the data in the databases was
corrupted. Fortunately, before upgrading to software,
we used Navicat to backup up our databases. With
the backups and Navicats, we were able to restore
all of our databases back to their original condition.
Navicat is easy to use because
the menus and tools bars are very clearly label
and designed. We have never had a problem with
the software crashing or corrupting data.
A GUI interface that provides
complete functionality for configuring and using
MySQL. What might take hours with the command
line, Navicat can accomplish in seconds.
Perhaps Navicats greatest strength
is it's ability to manage users and permissions
and import/export data.
The software was easy to download
and install. Even with a university purchase order,
we were able to order and install the software
within 24 hours (counting the time for our internal
procedures).
The online documentation is clearly
written and easy to access. In fact, our main
Navicat user commented, "It is so easy to
use, you don't even need documentation."
Thanks for delivering and excellent
product. It is going to save us tons of time and
time is money!

PremiumSoft Navicat has solved several problems
for me. My biggest problem was database backup.
With Navicat automated backup is extremely easy.
I just scheduled a backup job to run every day
using Navicat and the problem was solved.
Table design and alterations are a snap with
Navicat . New tables can be constructed in a fraction
of the time it used to take. The export feature
of Navicat allow me to export data in a form that
can be used on Palm Pilots by my employees. User
management is very easy with Navicat . Adding,
deleting and setting privileges is easily done
with a few clicks of the mouse.
Customer support for Navicat is very good. My
email questions were quickly and accurately answered.
Overall Impression
I have tried many other fine programs, but PremiumSoft
Navicat is by far the best. Ease of use and the
list of features make it my choice for MySQL administration.

I wanted to let you know how pleased we are with
your software. I am the Website Manager for a
State Government Agency. I recently converted
all of our web application data to the open source
data server, MySQL. We needed the capacity of
MySQL but we also needed a User Interface that
our staff could readily use without the expense
of training. PremiumSoft Navicat gives us that.
Most of our data is in Microsoft Access or MS
SQL Server. With Navicat importing and exporting
data from and to those formats is very easy and
requires virtually no additional training. Moving
to new technology is often intimidating to people
but once I demonstrated Navicat to our staff they
were pleasantly surprised.
I personally use much more of your products functionality
such as Scheduled Back-ups, User Management, and
general database creation and management but in
my opinion the import/export functionality alone
more than justifies the purchase of Navicat .
Navicat truely makes it easier to administer mySQL
than any other product I have tried.

Our group needed a low-cost SQL server solution
off-site UCSF. MySQL was the primary candidate.
However, me being a statistician and not at all
familiar with MySQL or the SQL server idea, I
needed to learn quickly and efficiently to get
our server on-line. Since the MySQL administrator
was difficult to work with, I looked for a front-end
that would make my job easier. PremiumSoft's Navicat
did the job beyond my expectations.
Usually, my test of whether a product is good
is the minimal use of the documentation. My test
of an excellent product is not having to look
at the documentation at all. Navicat is an excellent
product and I have yet to look at the documentation!
Navicat 's strengths are (obviously) its ease
of setup and use. I've dealt with software since
my junior year in high school (1981) and know

Before, I was at a loss as to
how to access our Mysql information stored on
our webserver. We had a Penn State intern that
developed a website for us last summer to document
Right To Know information. It was an information
site that quizzed employees on sections of information
and when completed, they would submit to the website
their name as having completed the documentation.
When the intern set up the site, she used Mysql
because it was easier for her to work with than
MS SQL for web development. I knew she did this
and assumed that I could view the information
with a tool in Mysql. Unfortunately for me, that
is not how it works. In order to extract the table
info in a similar manner that SQL uses, I stumbled
on your product - Navicat. I had the demo version
up in running in minutes.
It did everything I needed it to do in a simplier
way than by using text type tools. I purchased
two copies so that we can use it with other Mysql
databases that we want to deploy. The purchase
was simple, and the product is now up and running.
Since we need to develop additional databases,
I am sure it will help us make that management
